Why We Changed Our Name from Southern Candle Company to Maison Durvage

When we first launched Southern Candle Company, we were focused on one thing: candles. Our early offerings were rooted in the scents of the South—dogwood, magnolia, gardenia—capturing the essence of the region in every fragrance. It was the perfect starting point for a company that was born from a deep love for the Southern landscape and its fragrant beauty.

As I honed my craft and delved deeper into the world of fragrance, however, something began to shift. I started to dream bigger. I wanted to create unique, sophisticated fragrances that you wouldn't find on every shelf, scents that were truly distinctive and could transport people to special moments and places. It was no longer just about candles—it was about crafting an experience.

As time went on, our customers began to ask for more. They wanted not only beautiful candles but also home perfumes, diffusers, soaps, perfumes, and even beard care products. We listened to their requests, and after months of perfecting new formulas, we gradually expanded our offerings. Each new product was developed with the same attention to detail and passion that went into our candles.

With this expansion, however, came a challenge: our original name, Southern Candle Company, no longer felt like a true representation of our brand. As we branched out into a wider range of products, it became clear that the name didn’t reflect the diversity of what we had to offer. Our vision had grown, and so had the scope of our products. We were no longer just a candle company—we were a brand offering carefully crafted products for every aspect of self-care and home fragrance.

Additionally, we noticed a lot of confusion in the marketplace. There were several companies with variations of "Southern Candle Company" in their names, which led to a lack of clarity about what made our brand unique. We realized that in order to truly stand apart and reflect our growing product line, we needed a name that felt fresh and aligned with our expanded vision.

That’s when we decided it was time for a change. We wanted a name that could encompass the broader vision we had for our company—a name that spoke to the elegance, craftsmanship, and luxury of our diverse product offerings. And so, Maison Durvage was born.

Changing our name was an important step in allowing our brand to grow and evolve with our customers’ needs. Maison Durvage is now a reflection of who we are today—an innovative and diverse brand offering a range of luxurious home fragrances and self-care products.
