Our Story: The Birth of Maison Durvage

It all started with a chance meeting at a birthday dinner in December 2020. I had no idea that this casual encounter with a candle maker named Jimmy would set the stage for the creation of something truly special—what would later become Southern Candle Company, now known as Maison Durvage.

The evening began like any other. I was attending a birthday celebration, enjoying the food, the conversation, and the festive atmosphere. Little did I know, the most important conversation of the night was about to unfold. As we chatted, I learned that Jimmy was a candle maker—a profession I had never really thought about, but his passion for the craft quickly piqued my interest. Before the night was over, I found myself so intrigued that I asked him if he would be willing to mentor me in this newfound pursuit. Much to my surprise, he agreed, and just like that, the journey began.

By the following week, we were already getting to work. Jimmy became my guide, teaching me the ins and outs of candle making, as well as everything involved in creating high-quality, luxurious products. From selecting the right materials to testing different formulas, he showed me the importance of tracking every step of the process to ensure consistency and quality. He also emphasized the significance of curing times—a small detail that can make all the difference in how a candle burns and the fragrance it releases.
