The Story of Nemocon: A Fragrance Inspired by Colombia's Rose Capital.

One of the most memorable experiences that has shaped our fragrance journey at Maison Durvage was a two-week tour through the Nemocon region of Colombia. Nestled just north of Bogotá, Nemocon is a place that is both breathtaking and inspiring—an area known for producing roughly 80% of the roses found in the US. It’s here that I had the incredible opportunity to immerse myself in the heart of rose cultivation, learning from passionate growers and experiencing the beauty of one of the world’s largest rose-producing regions.

As you travel through Nemocon, you are immediately struck by the sight of acres upon acres of greenhouses, each brimming with long-stem roses that grow to heights of 8 to 9 feet. The landscape is alive with color, and the air is thick with the sweet, intoxicating essence of roses. It’s a fragrance unlike any other, as if the very atmosphere is infused with petals and dew, creating a delicate yet powerful scent that fills your senses.

During my two-week stay, I had the privilege of meeting some of the most dedicated and passionate rose growers I’ve ever encountered. These individuals not only cultivated roses, but they had a deep love and respect for their craft. They were eager to share their stories, their challenges, and the rich history of rose farming in the region. The pride they took in their work was evident in every conversation, and I was struck by the incredible care and attention they devoted to growing these stunning flowers.

It was during this trip that the idea for our fragrance, "Nemocon," was born. As I walked through rows of roses and breathed in the sweet, floral air, I knew I had to capture the essence of this experience in a scent.
